  • Recently, concerns have been voiced about the high eating quality rice in the market. To cope the high quality demands in rice market, a rice cultivar ‘Jinsumi’ which is showing high grain quality and multi-resistant to diseases was developed by the National Institute of Crop Science, RDA, Miryang, Korea. ‘Jinsumi’ was derived from a three-way cross of ‘Milyang165’ and F1 plant of YR16195-B-B-B-21-1/Milyang169. The pedigree of ‘Jinsumi’ was YR21999-B-B-B-17-3-1 and designated as ‘Milyang 218’ in 2005. Heading date of ‘Jinsumi’ was August 15 as mid-late maturing ecotype. ‘Jinsumi’ showed multi resistant to rice stripe virus (RSV), bacterial blight races of K1, K2, K3 and moderately resistant to leaf blast disease. The grain appearance of ‘Jinsumi’ was translucent and showed 96.6% of head rice ratio. The milled rice yield of ‘Jinsumi’ was 5.74 MT/ha at ordinary transplanting of local adaptability test. ‘Jinsumi’ would be adaptable to the plain area of Yeongnam province in Korea.

최근 우리나라의 벼 재배면적 및 1인당 쌀 소비량의 급격 한 감소와 함께 자유무역협정(FTA) 등 국내 쌀시장의 여건 변화 등으로 국내 쌀시장에서는 건강기능성 특수미 및 고품 질 벼 품종개발의 요구도가 커지고 있다. 고품질 벼의 경우 품질 및 밥맛에 영향을 주는 요인은 토양, 시비 및 기상에 따 른 재배환경과 수확시기, 건조, 저장 및 도정 등 수확 후 관리 등 단계별 여러 요인들이 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있다(Choi 2002). 최근 지구온난화에 따라 벼의 수량 감소 및 완전미율 등이 크게 영향을 받는데, Peng et al. (2004)은 벼 재배기간 중 야간온도가 1°C 증가할 때마다 벼 수확량이 10% 감소된 다고 보고하였으며, 출수후 20일간의 평균기온이 26-27°C로 높으면 심복백 등 유백립 및 동할미 발생 증가와 함께 식미가 저하된다고 하였다(Kobata et al. 2004). 특히, 영남지역은 여 러 형태의 기상재해 및 병해충 피해가 많이 발생하는 지역으 로, 분지가 많고 등숙기 온도가 높아 중북부지역에 비해 상대 적으로 쌀 수량과 품질확보에 어려움이 있다. 이에 국립식량 과학원에서는 영남지역에 적응하는 품질과 밥맛이 우수한 ‘진수미’를 개발한 바 육성 경위와 주요 특성을 보고하고자 한다.
본 연구는 2006년부터 2008년까지 3년간 서남부 해안지와 호남평야지 및 영남평야지 등 11개 지역의 벼 지역적응시험 포장에서 보통기 표준재배로 표준품종인 ‘남평벼’를 공시하 여 비교 검토하였다(RDA 2006, 2007, 2008a). 각 시험지별 재배방법은 4월 30일에 파종하여 5월 30일에 30 × 15 cm의 재식거리로 주당 3본씩 이앙하고, 시비량은 N-P2O5-K2O = 9-4.5-5.7 kg/10a로 재배하였다. 이모작 적응성은 6월 1일에 파종하여 6월 25일에, 만기재배는 6월 15일 파종하여 7월 10 일에 각각 재식거리 30×12 cm로 주당 5본을 이앙하였다. 그 밖의 재배관리와 품종육성을 위한 주요 농업적 특성, 수량특 성, 생리장해 및 병해충 저항성, 도정특성조사는 농촌진흥청 신품종개발 공동연구사업 과제 수행계획서 조사기준에 준하 여 실시하였다(RDA 2008b).
육성경위
‘진수미’는 영남지역에 적응하는 쌀의 외관과 밥맛이 양호 한 고품질 벼를 육성하고자 ’99/’00 동계에 밥맛이 좋고 단간 이면서 내병성이 양호한 ‘밀양165호’를 모본으로 하고 초형 이 우수한 YR16195-B-B-B-21-1 × 밀양169호 조합의 F1을 인공교배 하여 육성하였다. 그 후에는 세대촉진과 계통육종법 에 따라 주요 병해충 및 미질검정을 실시하면서 YR21999- B-B-B-17-3-1 계통을 선발하여 ‘밀양218호’의 계통명을 부 여하였다. 2005~2006년 2년의 생산력검정 시험과 2006~2008 년 3개년간 지역적응시험 결과 우수성이 인정되어 농작물 직 무육성 신품종 선정위원회에서 국가목록 등재 품종으로 선정 되었다. ‘진수미’는 영남평야 1모작지에 적응성이 높은 중만 생 고품질 벼 품종이다(Fig. 1).

출수기 및 주요 농업적 특성
보통기 보비재배에서 ‘진수미’의 출수기는 서남부 해안지 에서 8월 15일, 호남 평야지에서 8월 14일로 영남평야지에서 의 8월 17일보다 2~3일정도 빨랐으며(자료 미 제시), 전국 평 균 출수기는 8월 15일로 ‘남평벼’보다 2일 빠른 중만생종이 다. 이모작과 만식재배에서는 모두 8월 29일로 ‘남평벼’와 같 거나 1일 빠른 편이었다. ‘진수미’의 간장은 85 cm로 ‘남평 벼’보다 7 cm 정도 큰 편이며, 이삭 길이는 20 cm로 ‘남평벼’ 와 같다. 등숙비율은 91.5%로 ‘남평벼’보다 약간 높은 편이 었으며, 현미 천립중은 22.4 g으로 ‘남평벼’보다 무거운 편이 다(Table 1).

생리장해 저항성
‘진수미’는 ‘남평벼’와 같이 위조에는 강하며 성숙기의 엽 노화는 보통이다. 춘천의 내냉성 검정결과 출수지연일수가 ‘남평벼’에 비해 4일 정도 늦었으며, ‘남평벼’의 58%에 비해 상대적으로 높은 71%의 높은 임실율을 보였다. 수발아는 ‘남 평벼’와 같이 거의 발생하지 않았으나, 포장도복시험 결과 담 수직파 포장검정에서 약간 도복 되었다(Table 2).

병충해 저항성
전국 14개소에서 3년간 실시한 잎도열병 밭못자리 검정에 서 평균 저항성 정도가 5.0으로 ‘남평벼’와 비슷한 중도저항 성을 보였다. 목도열병 현지 포장검정에서는 이천의 이병수율 6.1%를 제외하고는 대부분의 시험지에서 ‘남평벼’와 같이 경 미한 반응을 보였다(Table 3). 흰잎마름병 K1, K2, K3 균주에 는 저항성이었으나 최근에 발병이 많은 K3a 균주에는 이병성 반응을 보였다. 줄무늬잎마름병에는 저항성이나 오갈병과 검 은줄오갈병 및 주요 해충인 벼멸구와 애멸구에는 저항성이 없다(Table 4).

품질 및 도정 특성
쌀알은 심복백이 없이 맑고 투명하며, 단백질 및 아밀로스 함량과 알칼리 붕괴도는 ‘남평벼’와 비슷한 편이지만 밥맛은 ‘남평벼’보다 매우 양호한 편이었다(Table 5). 제현율과 도정 율은 가각 83.4% 및 75.7%로 ‘남평벼’보다 약간 높은 편이었 고 완전미 도정수율은 96.6%로 ‘남평벼’와 같았다(Table 6).

수량성
‘진수미’의 수량성은 2006년부터 2008년까지 3개년간 실 시한 지역적응시험 결과 남서부 해안지와 호남평야지, 영남평 야지의 보통기 보비재배 11개소에서 5.55 MT/ha로 ‘남평벼’ 와 같았다. 영남평야 이모작재배 및 호남평야 만식재배 에서 의 수량성은 4.69 MT/ha와 4.70 MT/ha로 각각 7% 및 8% 감수되었다(Table 7).

적응지역 및 재배상 유의점
‘진수미’는 영남평야 1모작지에 적응하는 중만생 품종이다. 특히 질소비료 과다 시 도복의 우려가 높으며 미질저하 및 병 해충 발생의 우려가 있음으로 적정 균형시비 하여야 한다. 벼 멸구 등 해충과 흰잎마름병 레이스 K3a에는 감수성으로 적기 에 기본방제를 실시하여야 하고 냉수 용출답이나 극만식 재 배는 피하는 것이 좋다.
적 요
‘진수미’는 국립식량과학원에서 2008년도에 육성한 품종 으로, 도정특성이 우수하며 쌀의 외관과 밥맛이 양호한 고품 질 품종이다. 남서부 해안지 및 영호남 평야지 보통기 보비재 배에서 평균 출수기는 8월 15일로 ‘남평벼’보다 2일 빠른 중 만생종 품종이다. 간장은 85 cm로 ‘남평벼’보다 7 cm 정도 큰 편이며, 완전미 도정수율은 96.6%로 ‘남평벼’와 같았다. 내냉성 검정결과 ‘남평벼’의 58%에 비해 상대적으로 높은 71%의 높은 임실율은 보였다. 수발아는 발생하지 않았으나, 담수직파 포장검정에서 약간 도복 되었다. 잎도열병은 중도저 항성을 보였으며, 흰잎마름병 레이스 K1, K2, K3에는 저항성 이었으나 K3a에는 이병성이며, 줄무늬잎마름병에는 강하였으 나 기타 바이러스병에는 약하고 주요 해충인 벼멸구와 애멸 구에는 저항성이 없다. 쌀 수량성은 5.55 MT/ha로 ‘남평벼’ 와 같았으며, 영남평야 1모작지가 적응지역이다.
본 ‘진수미’ 품종은 농촌진흥청 연구사업(세부과제명: 영남 지역 적응 고품질 쌀 품종개발, 세부과제번호: PJ002582)의 지원에 의해 이루어진 것임. 본 ‘진수미’를 육성함에 있어 협 력하여 주신 국립식량과학원과 소속연구소의 벼육종연구진, 농촌진흥청 연구관리국, 기술지원국 및 각도 농업기술원 관계 관께 깊은 감사를 드리는 바이다.
