중만생 다수성 찰기장 ‘이백찰’

  • ‘Ibaekchal’ is a proso millet (Panicum miliaceum L.) variety developed and registered by Department of Sothern Area Crop Science, NICS, RDA in 2011. This variety which collected from Jeju was developed through pure line selection. ‘Ibaekchal’ is a medium late maturing variety having 109 days of growth duration from transplanting to harvesting in Milyang of Korea. The culm length is about 140 cm which is longer culm length than standard variety ‘Hwanggeumgigang’. However it is adapted to mechanized cultivation because it is tolerant to lodging in field. The panicle shape is a severe droopy type and the length is 40 cm. According to the grain, color and endosperm characteristics are white and glutinous. The milled yield performance of this variety was about 2.29 MT/ha in local adaptability test from 2010 to 2011 and it showed 15% increase than standard variety ‘Hwanggeumgigang’. Since Ibaekchal has adaptability to late planting, it is suitable for double cropping in mid and South Korea.
기장(Proso millet, Panicum miliaceum L.) 은 외떡잎식물 벼목 화본과의 한해살이풀로 조, 보리와 더불어 인류가 재배 한 가장 오래된 작물 중의 하나로서 신석기시대부터 중앙아 시아, 중동지역, 중국 등 유라시아 대륙 전역에서 재배되어 왔 다(Graybosh & Baltensperger 2009, Kim et al. 2013, Oelke et al. 1990). 현재도 러시아, 스리랑카, 파키스탄, 인도, 중국, 네팔, 미국 등의 온대기후대에서 널리 재배되고 있으며 (Salini et al. 2010), 동아시아쪽 국가들에서는 식량작물의 하나로 이 용되고 있으나, 유럽 및 미국에서는 새먹이와 사료용으로 주 로 이용되고 있다(Kim et al. 2013).
기장은 오래 전부터 넓은 지역에서 재배되어 왔기 때문에 지역에 따라 Proso millet, hog millet, common millet, broomcorn millet, white millet, red french millet 등 다양한 이름으로 불리며(Lyon et al. 2008), 한자로 찰기장은 서(黍), 메기장은 직(稷)이라 한다(Ko et al. 2014). 기장은 조와 더불 어 대표적인 밀렛류 작물인데, 밀렛류는 동일한 무게와 양을 기준으로 하였을 때 쌀, 밀, 옥수수 등에 비하여 알갱이가 작 아 기능성이 높은 성분을 많이 함유하고 있는 배아 및 호분층 의 비율이 높아 다른 곡류에 비하여 지방, 미네랄과 식이섬유, 비타민 A 등의 함량이 높은 영양학적 특징을 가지고 있다 (Amadou et al. 2013, Ha & Lee 2001, Oelke et al. 1990). 따라서 최근 이러한 밀렛의 특징을 바탕으로 기장의 영양학 적 가치 및 기능성에 대하여서도 새롭게 주목을 받고 있다 (Kalinova 2007, Lee et al. 2011, Park et al. 2011, Woo et al. 2012). Park et al. (2011)에 의하면 기장은 지방억제능력 이 우수하며 대식세포에 열수추출물과 lipopolysaccharide 자 극을 같이 처리한 결과 pro-inflammatory cytokine인 TNF-α 와 IL-6의 mRNA 발현량이 효과적으로 감소하여 항염증 효 과가 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 또한, Kalinova (2007)는 만성 위장장애가 있는 환자의 식사에 이용하면 효과적이라는 사실 을 구명하였다.
기장은 개간지, 척박지와 가뭄에 적응성이 매우 높고, 재배 기간이 짧아 구황작물 혹은 대체작물로 많이 이용되며, 불량 환경에도 잘 적응하는 특성을 가지고 있어 온대에서 아열대 에 이르기까지 광범위한 지역에서 적응하면서 출수생태 및 재배시기에 따라 농업적 특성 변이가 다양하게 나타나고 있 다(Nelson 1984, Park et al. 1999). 그러나, 우리나라의 농가 에서 주로 재배되어 온 재래종은 종자의 혼입도가 높고 수량 성이 높지 않으므로 안정적인 기장 생산에 장애요소이다. 따 라서 재래종의 순계분리 및 교잡육종을 통하여 생산성이 높 고 쌀에 부족 되기 쉬운 칼슘과 같은 미네랄 등의 기능성 물 질을 다량 함유하고 있는 우수한 기장 품종의 육성이 필요하 다. 현재까지 국내 기장 품종육성은 기장의 생산 및 재배면적 이 넓지 않은 이유로 활발하게 이루어지지 않았으며, 개발된 품종으로는 강원도농업기술원에서 지역재래종을 순계분리한 ‘황금기장’과 국립식량과학원에서 개발된 지역재래종 순계분 리종 ‘다강기장’이 있다. 이에 국립식량과학원의 잡곡 육종연 구진은 지역별로 우수한 재래종을 순계 분리하여 혼반용으로 적합하고 수량이 높은 품종육성에 노력을 기울여 왔던 바 기 장 ‘이백찰’을 개발하여 2011년 농촌진흥청의 직무육성 신품 종 선정위원회의 심의를 거쳐 전국 1모작 및 남부 맥후작 재 배지역에 보급하게 되었기에 그 육성경위와 주요 특성을 보 고하고자 한다.
본 시험은 2010~2011년 밀양, 해남, 원주 3개 지역에서 보통기 표준재배 및 만기재배를 수행하였고, 표준품종 ‘황금 기장’과 비교 검토하였다. 각 지역에서 시험에 공시한 품종은 보통기 재배로 5월 15일에 파종하여 5월 30일에, 만기재배는 6월 15일로 파종하여 6월 30일에 정식하였다. 재식거리는 60 × 15 cm로 주당 2본으로 하였고, 시비량 및 질소분시방법은 N-P2O5-K2O를 9-7-8 kg/10a 시용하였고, 전량 기비로 시용 하였다. 생육특성으로 간장, 수장, 출수일수, 생육기간 및 현 곡 천립중을 조사하였으며, 기타 형태적 특성 중 지엽의 안토 시아닌 유무, 엽색, 이삭의 자세 등을 조사하였다. 출수일수는 파종에서부터 출수가 50% 되었을 때의 기간을 출수소요일로 하였으며, 생육일수는 파종부터 이삭의 색이 50% 이상 황색 으로 변하는 시기까지를 생육일수로 하였다. 그 외의 조사는 농촌진흥청 식물 유전자원 평가기준(The Korea Seed & Variety Service, Ministry for Food, Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries. 2008)에 준하여 실시하였다. 수확 후 도정은 고무 롤러식 현미기(쌍용정밀기계, model SY88-TH)를 이용 하여 제현과정을 2회 거친 후 연삭식 정미기(쌍용정밀기계, model SY09-MMCHT, 한국)로 1분간 정미하여 과피 부분을 제거하여 기장쌀로 만들고, 제현율, 도정수율, 완전미율을 조 사하였다.
‘이백찰’의 배유특성을 알고자 아밀로즈 함량을 분석하고, 영양성분 및 기능성을 조사하고자 단백질, 무기성분함량 및 폴리페놀, 항산화활성을 조사하였다. 일정량의 시료를 취하여 습식분해한 후 100 mL로 정용하여 분석용 시료로 사용하였 다. 조단백질 함량은 Kjeldahl 분석기(2300 Kjeltec Analyzer Unit, FOSS Tecator, Hoeganaes, Sweden)를 이용하여 정량 하였고, 칼슘 함량은 550°C에서 회화한 후 0.5 N 질산을 가 하여 가온해서 녹이고 GF/C 여과지로 여과한 다음 정용하여 ICP(Inductively Coupled Plasma, Optima-3300DV, Perkin- Elmer, Norwalk, CT, USA)로 분석하였다. 아밀로스 함량은 아밀로스가 나선구조 속에 요오드 분자를 결합시켜 안정된 청자색 혼합물을 형성시키는 특성을 이용하여 아밀로스-요오 드 혼합물의 청색을 가장 많이 흡수하는 적색파장에서의 흡 광도를 비색계(Multiskan Spectrum, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Vantaa, Finland)를 이용하여 620 nm에서 측정하였으며, 표 준품으로 pure potato amylose (Sigma-Aldrich, St. Louis, MO, USA)를 이용하여 정량하였다(Jeong et al. 2006). 항산 화 성분은 동결 건조하여 분쇄된 시료를 80% 에탄올로 진탕 추출하여 얻은 추출물을 얻어 총 폴리페놀을 분석하였으며 측정방법은 Choi et al. (2006)의 방법을 변형하여 측정하였 다. 통계처리는 SAS 9.1 프로그램을 이용하였다.
‘이백찰’은 재배 안정성이 높고 수량이 많은 혼반용 찰기장 을 육성하고자 2008년 국립유전자원센터로부터 분양 받은 유 전자원 중에서 배유의 특성이 찰성이고 초형이 양호한 북제 주 수집종을 선정하여 기본집단 양성 후 ‘08~’09년 2년간 분리육종법을 통해 순계 분리로 육성된 품종이다. ‘10~’11 년에 생산력 검정 시험과 기후생태가 다른 3개 지역에서 실시 한 지역적응시험을 동시에 수행하면서 ‘밀양3호’로 계통명을 부여 받으면서, 특성을 검정한 결과 신품종 보호출원 요건에 합당함이 인정되어 2011년 농촌진흥청의 농작물직무육성 신 품종선정위원회에서 보호출원 품종으로 선정되었다. ‘이백찰’ 의 품종명은 2012년 농촌진흥청에서 대국민공모를 통하여 선 정되었으며, 품종의 육성과정은 Fig. 1과 같다.

출수기 및 생육기간
‘이백찰’은 Table 1과 같이 영남평야지(밀양)에서 ‘황금기 장’보다 보통기 재배 평균 출수기가 7월 23일로 13일 늦고, 만식재배에서는 8월 6일로 14일 늦다. 기본영양생장기간이 긴 편으로, 보통기 재배시 생육기간이 ‘이백찰’ 109일, ‘황금 기장’ 96일, 만기재배시 ‘이백찰’ 93일, ‘황금기장’ 79일로 ‘황금기장’에 비해 13~14일 정도 긴 중만생종이다.

잎과 줄기
‘이백찰’의 엽색은 녹색이고, 지엽의 안토시아닌 색소 발현 은 없으며 지엽의 길이는 ‘이백찰’이 황금기장에 비해 긴 편 이다. 줄기 상부의 절간 길이가 황금기장에 비해 길고, 절간두 께는 ‘황금기장’과 비슷하다. 줄기는 직립으로 강도가 강하며, 간장은 보통기 재배시 140 cm로 ‘황금기장’에 비해 44 cm 정도 길다(Table 2).

이삭과 낟알
‘이백찰’의 이삭 길이는 40 cm 정도로 ‘황금기장’보다 길 고 심하게 아래로 처지는 자세이며 착립밀도는 보통이다. 탈 립은 잘 안 되는 편이고 종실색은 흰색이며, 낟알색은 노란색, 배유전분의 특성은 찰성으로 찰기장에 속한다. 천립중은 4.2 g 으로 ‘황금기장’ 4.9 g에 비하여 약간 작은 편이었다(Table 3).

도복, 생리장애 저항성 및 병해충 저항성
‘이백찰’은 도복에 강하며, 불임이 잘 유발되는 조건인 수 전기 강우 지속과 같은 조건하에서도 불임 발생이 적었다. ‘이백찰’은 대표적인 기장의 병해인 줄무늬잎마름병에는 ‘황 금기장’과 비슷한 저항성을 나타내었으며, 잎짚무늬마름병에 ‘황금기장’에 비하여 저항성을 나타내었다. 또한, 내충성은 ‘황 금기장’과 마찬가지로 충에 의한 피해가 거의 없었다(Table 4).

도정 및 성분특성
‘이백찰’은 곡실 중 아밀로즈 함량이 8.2%인 찰기장으로서 혼반용으로 이용하기 좋다. 도정 특성은 제현율 86.2%, 도정 수율 81.9%로서 조에 비하여 높고, 대조품종인 ‘황금기장’ 보다 약간 낮게 나타났다. 곡실 중 무기성분인 칼슘은 4.1 mg/100g 으로 황금기장보다 약간 낮았으나 마그네슘과 칼륨 은 높게 나타났다. 항산화성분인 폴리페놀 함량은 표준품종 ‘황금기장’과 비슷한 수준이었으며, DPPH 항산화활성은 ‘황 금기장’보다 ‘이백찰’이 더 높게 나타났다(Table 5).
수량성
2010년에서 2011년의 생산력 검정시험과 지역적응시험결 과 결과 생산력 검정시험에서 보통기 재배시 10 a당 평균수 량은 2.20 MT/ha 으로서 대비품종인 ‘황금기장’에 비해 15% 증수하였다. 지역적응 시험은 원주, 밀양, 해남의 3개 지역에 서 실시하였으나 해남은 태풍으로 인하여 정상적인 생육 및 수확이 불가능하여 성적에서 제외하였고, 원주와 밀양 지역에 서 실시한 결과는 보통기 재배시 2.29 MT/ha으로 대비품종 인 ‘황금기장’에 비해 15% 증수였다(Table 6).

적응지역 및 재배상 유의점
‘이백찰’은 전국 1모작 및 2모작지에 추천되는 중만생 찰 기장 품종이다. 또한, 도복 등 재해에는 비교적 강하지만 습해 에는 약하므로 배수가 불량한 밭이나 논토양에서 재배하고자 할 때에는 배수시설을 설치하는 것이 좋다. 또한 기장은 도복 에 약한 작물로 과비재배시 도복이 우려됨으로 적정시비가 이루어 지도록 해야 하고 유수분화기 이후 한발피해가 예상 되면 적절한 관수를 실시하여야 한다. 전용약제가 등록되어 있지 않아 제초제 처리는 피해야 한다.
‘이백찰’은 제주도에서 수집된 재래기장을 기본집단으로 하여 분리육종법을 통해 국립식량과학원에서 2011년 육성된 신품종으로 주요특성과 수량성을 요약하면 다음과 같다. 출수 기는 표준품종인 ‘황금기장’보다 보통기 재배에서는 13일 정 도 늦은 중만생종으로 생육일수는 109일 정도이며 기본영양 생장 기간은 길다. 간장은 140 cm 정도로 ‘황금기장’에 비해 약간 크고, 도복에 강한 특성을 나타낸다. 이삭은 심한 하수형 이며 이삭길이는 40 cm로 매우 길다. 종실색은 흰색이고, 낟 알은 노란색이며, 배유의 아밀로스 함량이 8.2%로 찰기장에 해당하며, 낟알의 무기성분 중 칼슘 4.1 mg/100g, 마그네슘 38.0 mg/100g 으로 비교적 함량이 높으며 DPPH 소거 항산 화활성이 ‘황금기장’에 비해 높은 특성을 가지고 있다. 수량 은 지역적응시험 보통기재배 평균 2.29 MT/ha로서 표준품종 보다 15% 정도 증수되는 다수성이고, 기본영양생장 기간이 길기 때문에 중･남부 평야지역에 적응성이 높으며, 내도복 직 립 초형으로 기계화 재배에 유리한 우수한 품종이다.
